Q. What do you love about teaching music?
“I love teaching because it allows me to share things I find musically exciting and interesting. I feel that part of my role as a teacher is to help students either find or further their exploration of things they find musically exciting and interesting.”
Mark Ritter is a guitarist and composer. He is a graduate from Humber College where he obtained a Bachelor of Music, majoring in guitar. Mark also holds an ARCT in guitar performance and has over 8 years of experience teaching privately.
He believes that learning music should be a multifaceted, organic process that includes components of technique, theory, composition, ear training and improvisation.
“I believe that musical grow and development should stem from both enthusiasm and an immersion in music and the music making process. This is what I strive to help my students cultivate within their own relationship with music.”
Mark is currently performing with several groups and continues to lead, collaborate and work as a side-musician on various musical projects in a wide range of genres in the Toronto area.
