Q. What do you love about teaching music?

“Music education provides an opportunity for children and adults to develop completely new skillsets. Every piece of music is like a puzzle, and I love guiding my students through the processes of learning, problem-solving, and exploring music’s abstract and logical elements.”

Marie has been playing piano since she was five years old. She completed her ARCT in Performance while studying with Galina Shostakovsky in Ottawa. She then earned her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from McGill University in 2015, where she studied with Georgian virtuoso pianist Marina Mdivani. At McGill, Marie gained valuable experience in piano duet and classical song, and also competed for the McGill Varsity Track and Field and Cross Country teams alongside her studies.

Marie attended University of Toronto for her Master’s degree in Piano Performance, which she completed in 2018 under the tutelage of Marietta Orlov, former Romanian State Soloist. Marie was part of the children’s pedagogy class where she researched, compiled, and implemented methods of introducing young children to guided sound exploration and improvisation techniques. Most recently, Marie achieved her Advanced Certificate in Performance from University of Toronto.
